PILATES
Pilates is an innovative and safe system of Mind-Body Exercise evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates.
Pilates works the muscles through controlled movement and can be adapted to challenge any body whilst accommodating potential physical limitations. Therefore, Pilates is suitable for all, at any age, from the first time exerciser with chronic pain, ladies who are antenatal or postnatal, to top athletes looking for that sporting edge.
The clinic is set up as a fully equipped Pilates studio with ‘Balanced Body’ equipment. This Balanced Body video shows some of the equipment and exercises.
The clinic has a CoreAlign, Reformer, Trapeze Table, Ladder Barrel, Combo Chair and many smaller pieces of equipment. The equipment uses springs and pulleys to offer assistance or resistance to personalise the exercise for the client to ensure the desired muscles are targeted.
Pilates can help prevent injuries or aches and pains. Whilst Physiotherapy treatment can address specific joint stiffness or muscle tension causing discomfort, Pilates can re-educate the neuromuscular connections in the body to maintain this, achieving long lasting benefits in a safe professional environment.
